The system needs to be reset after a set amount of time. maybe anywhere from every 3 months to a year?
this is what made me think of this
http://www.wildfireclan.co.uk/forums/index...mp;#entry126109

i dont see why not. i mean, for one it would save a lot of space where the system is stored. am i right AJ, i seem to remember you guys complaining about how it takes for ever for the page(s) to load when ever you opened it up. unless you've fixed that problem. another reason is that overtime eventually every person that plays on this server would be banned. I think the system would work just as well if the system was reset because lets a guy comes in and starts tking and people request him. then the system is reset and his slate is clean, either he is going to continue and get banned anyways, or he is going stop. either way the system works the same.

well if you mean requestban votes, then yes. but if you mean complete reset, definitely not. i absolutely hate the tkers/campers/trenchers and I don't want the ones who did it enough to be requestbanned ever coming back. what i do think is that the people who care enough to come post on our forums should (if not immediately) be unbanned within a few months. those type of people are the ones are servers are desperately lacking.

nope not the bans, no way man. im just talking about the "points". like my requestban standing right now is naughty, but when its reset i would be good, but the people already banned will stay banned.

The physical space taken up by the database is not that huge. Having a complete history is useful, as you can judge whether this person is a constant offender, a one time idiot, or just unlucky. Yes the requests need to "time out" but they still need to be visible for assessment.

maybe what you can do is makeit so it doesnt apply the points but it still keeps the logs of when the personwas requestbanned.

kinda like:

11-14-2007: requestbanned for tking 1 point
5-15-2007: requestbanned for tking 0 points(e)

(e) would mean expired so some1 whose a good player wont be banned because ppl requestbanned ages ago and what i did above is what i think it would be lik but im likely wrong

Means that you'd be banned if you weren't in WF (or if you left)

How about two sets. One being 'active request ban votes' and another 'nullified request ban votes' for whatever reason, being it an automatically-removed system or 'appealed by jack' system. It solves the problem and at the same time it gives you your history.

yeah, I like the idea of having a "log" and so you can see whether it was ages ago or something. But I still think that perm bans should be there, and so we can shut the =TK= guys out for good.

is the permanent ban permanent? lol, but I agree, what a bunch of losers, they're the main requestban obstacle really, but I guess it makes it easier to see if they're tkers or not when the have a tag saying so.
