See this for more information about sv_prure:

Should we enable sv_pure?

Quick question:

Obviously custom skins go under that category, but I'd guess more than half of the regular players have custom skins. If it just kicks them all automatically they won't have any clue what happened. So is there a good way to tell everyone who gets kicked that they need to get rid of their skins? Also, is there an easy way to replace the skin files with the original files? It could be a big mess up if those things aren't considered.

it's easy to get rid of your skins, just go into your cstrike folder and find the place that you put 'em when you downloaded them.
i vote yes, especially since in don't use skins :P
and i don't really get the whole whitelist thing, so i voted 'complete'

I know where my skins are. But didn't they replace the original files? If I just delete the skins will it go back to normal?

Read ye olde wiki page and the info is there:

Other Notes

In most cases, even clients who have modified content sitting on their disk are still allowed to play on a pure server. The Source Engine will ensure that the content from Steam (instead of the content from their disk) is used when a client plays on a pure server. This way, clients don't have to wade through their game directories to clean out old content before they play on a pure server. Instead, they just join servers and the correct allowed content is automatically used.

Yes, but if the server were pure (complete) then they wouldn't be used. At least that's what I get from the wiki, Jack correct me if I'm wrong.

/off topic

i don't think you need to, it just wont use the ones you changed, and instead it will use the default ones while your on the server :P
so you'll still have them if you play on a non-pure server :)

(This server is IMPURE! lol)

Should we enable sv_pure?

Then my custom skins won't work. Atleast allow ../materials/models/ to be on the whitelist

No.

you mean you deleted them? YAY FOR EAGLE ;)

if you delete your whole cstrike folder then steam will just "update" it back, so thats easiest. damn steam updates are slower than normal downloads though, so be careful :(

BTW, how do custom skins help people "hack"... you can not see through walls with custom skins...
why don't i use larger models so i can kill easier? i think its because they don't let you shoot the extra-large parts, they're just there to stick out from around those skinny trees...

so you can just delete your whole cstrike folder and then it will be like remade again after you start steam up again?
