Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

If you tried browsing the site in the last 2 hours you might have received the error:

Quote

Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.
Apache Server at www.wildfireclan.co.uk Port 80

Apologies about that, I haven't been monitoring our usage lately, but I have increased the self imposed limit to twice the amount previously set. (So don't worry we have lots of bandwidth left, in fact we have actually used 1.47% of our real bandwidth limit, high limit :))

Could have been worse, got have not checked my email or visited the site till tomorrow :P

The reason why I set a limit is to prevent attacks against the site, so in the event someone attacks it (not hacks) using methods I won't disclose, they would eventually use the preset limit, and get the error, this way saving the actual server from hitting any limits, but I might have set it too low (Did set it 1 year ago mind you).

But there we go, it's shows this site is getting more and more popular :D

That's funny, because I myself had my site go down today because the Bandwidth limit was exceeded. Again, this is just a self-imposed one to prevent DDoS, attacks and such, and it was merely a matter of paying a visit to WHM and bumping up my Limit from 4000MB to 6000MB.

Strange that, huh?

If you'd told us a few months ago when we moved to our new shiny server that we would be using this much bandwidth JUST on forums, we wouldn't have believed you! I can remember the good old days when we only used 6-7 gb a month, luckily we are our own masters :)
