Have you got xfire running? try exiting out of it before running CSS. I have a hunch.

Background Processes: Failed
The following background processes were found on your system. Please try exiting or uninstalling them, and see if that resolves your issue
Process: C:\Program Files\Xfire\Xfire.exe
XFire is running, which may cause numerous connection problems with Steam and the online games.
Severity: Very High

i highly doubt that xfire is causing this problem. i always run xfire when i go on steam or counter strike and now all of a sudden im having problems so thats why i dont think its the xfire. plus i already tried running with xfire exited

Click start, and then run. Type in "cmd" and press enter.

Now, at the command prompt, type "chkdsk" (without the quotes). This will detect whether or not there is any problems with the disk that may be causing Steam's files to be corrupted.

In Gmod 10 that means you have a bad add-on
specifically GMow sound fix.

But in css I have no idea what it means.

Try deleting the serverbrowser.dll
Steam will re download you a new one.

If that doesn't work re-install CS:S
Could just be a bad file in the cs:s folder, changed by a virus or whatnot.

If that doesnt work try re-installing all source games.
Could be a flaw in your source engine.

when I try to delete the steam folder it says Cannot delete FileSystem_Steam.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. *edit* nvm i fixed that part

Windows found problems with the file system.
Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these.

Seems you have some bad sectors on your hard drive.

Run "CHKDSK /F" this time (without the quotes)

If it asks you to do the scan at next boot, say YES and reboot.

Not really. He still has an error in the Filesystem, that's still unfixed. The steam files were obviously corrupt anyways... hence the problem.
