Has anyone played the beta for MAG and if you have, is it a good game to buy?

256 players? Is it like a huge map? And is there servers able to handle 256 players without huge latency?

yes 256 players and the maps are designed with multiply objectives that have to be taken/defended at the same time. I.E. bunkers, artillry positions, anti air, and such so it isn't undercontroled. 256 breaks down as 2 teams which have commander (sets objectives) plattons (platton leaders have powers i think), sqauds (squad leaders have powers). so at anypoint it could be 8 v 8 (sqauds) then the rest of your platton arrives suddenly it 32 v 8 then theres renforces 32 v 32. All while the while it 128 v 128 on the same server.

regarding the latency, apparently thats why its only out on ps3 (something to do with it being only possible on it, which is total marketing bs), it looks good explaintion and demo attached

256 players per server? not gonna happen. and if it does, I'm betting it only gets 2-3 servers filled ?

yes 256 players per server (why do i have to keep repeating my self), sony are the ones providing the servers so it isn't to be a problem in addition im assuming it will be a match maker based system with filters by region so the 2-3 servers bit is bull. Anyway its looking like this is going to be sony big Q1 release (29/1) so assuming good reviews just about the connection then i dont see why this good couldn't sell a couple 100,000 copies in the first week. with an increase in ps3 sales.

Awww, I have a fetish for games that are mentally and physically (lol *click) engaging like this. Although, I don't think I would ever want to be responsible for 128 players at once, that's just scary responsibility. Platoon leaders sound most fun because you can make and impact and not be in control of everything.

I can also see them screwing up big time on this production. i.e. there would be incomprehensible commands/no macros for leaders, no controlling factor on a squad or platoon, a DoD sort of objective thing where you just go places to secure them, failure terrain etc. If it ends up being wtf-awesome, I may just cry because I don't have a ps3 D:

I played the beta, I was five days late getting started on it but after about 5 minutes I was leading my side in every game I played :P

And that's odd, because normally I'm average on an FPS, not actually good or great.
