What games have dissapointed you in 2009, and which games are you looking forward to?

For me I think that Haze was a total and complete piece of sh*t. I bought it, played it, sat in the corner and cried, that game was so very lame. I also think that Spore was a massive anticlimax, It could have been such an awesome game, however they failed on that also, atleast the creator is epic.

The game I expect to completely fail is Killzone 2. I think this game has had massive hyope and will probably be pretty lame. I know the graphics will rule, but I really am tired of console FPSes and I think the trailer showed it to be distinctly average. Any thoughts?

LOL, I'm sorry, it was too tempting, especially on the first of the new year. Props to DC for making the first :>. Also, in a desperate attempt at originality, I'll switch up the rules and demand you post what you're actually looking forward to and not things you expect to fail.

I'll start:
I thought AC2 was an epic dissapointment because the combat system was essentially the same: 'lol solo 5million people, no need for actual low-profile-i-ness'. I've always wondered why they don't just up and change the name of the game to rambo's creed. I also think that ODST was so not worth the cost just for firefight.. and its campaign was lacking imho. Bioshock also feels sad to me because it's yet another 50s/60s game that is half the game fallout3 was, though I have heard it compared to half life 2 and the like, but I don't see enough in it. l4d2 is also more of the same imo. On a good note, I thought Blands was magnificently fun with friends and MW2 was decent.

However, I look forward to Napoleon total war, Starcraft2, Final Fantasy XIV, maybe HL2 episode 3 if they ever get around to releasing the friggin thing, Halo Reach mebbe, APB fo sho. Half of my expectations aren't FPS, lmao

Any thoughts? (lol, steal!)

MW2 was the biggest dissapointment of 2009, it just failed so hard.
I'm mainly waiting for BF: BC2 and HL2 Episode 3.

Yeah MW2 was a complete failure. A huge disappointment.
I'm looking forward to Cataclysm.

I kind of feel the same way about MW2, it's almost like l4d2 in that it doesn't bring anything new to the table. It was sort of fun to play with friends, but again I think you just can't play team games like that. Camping isn't discouraged either :<. And I just feel bad for anyone who has it on the computer; gl when they take away your MW2 internets. I forgot to throw down Cataclysm too: but I really hope the world maintains its sense of beauty. The views (though quirky with the kind of graphics they employ) could be cool at times. I just don't want to look at a lavaspewing ######piles everywhere I go if I ever play again.

Are you guys kidding me? First you say MW2 was a failure. It was pure awesomeness. Sure, it was far away from its precursor and MW2s multiplayer was a dissapointment, but the singleplayer was awesome.

And waiting for BF: BC2, haven't you heard that they are going to focus more on the multiplayer than the singleplayer. BF: BC was loved because of its awesome and sweet singleplayer. I never even played the multiplayer. I rather stick to BF2 then.

My biggest dissapointment was Left 4 Dead 2, felt more like an expansion and made me facepalm that I wasted my money on that ######.

I am looking forward to Battlefield 3, even though not much have been said yet.

Do you guys think that Cataclysm will bring anything good into WoW? :)
WotLK sucked imo, found it too easy :)

- Anyway Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was definately the biggest failure of 2009. For soooo many years I've waited for a worthy sequel to Operation Flashpoint, and this sequel failed badly in soo many ways.

They are adding in so much, you'll love it. Flying mounts in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms!
Also, the new races, Goblins and Worgens.

Flying mounts in the old world = WIN

The new races seems lack luster though, we dont need races when we could get classes :)

In the fear of getting addicted again; what are they adding? :D

Well if you want a full list...

http://www.worldofwa...clysm/features/

'tis gonna be awesome.

Anyway it seems like a pattern to me, they added two new races in TBC and then a new class in WotLK so they would add two new races in the next expansion, which is Cataclysm. ;]

Play Arma2.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was developed by Codemasters, who also published the first Operation Flashpoints.

Arma2 was developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio, those who developed the first Operation Flashpoint games.

Codemasters decided to be gready money hungry bastards and use the Operation Flashpoint name and kick Bohemia. So if you are looking for an awesome game. A really awesome game that you can't stop play. Buy Arma2. I absolutely love it.

To make it short, Arma and Arma2 are the the correct follow-up to the Operation Flashpoint if you ask me.

Arma1 sucked big time. It sucked so hard I havent even bothered trying the 2nd :P - And to Planzor: At least the two classes in tbc brought something new with them, paladin and shaman for the respectible factions.

Icicle, Arma2 is epic. They took everything bad from Arma1 and made it good. Give it a try, it is awesome!

I was never patient enough to level up a single guy to get a flying mount. This was partly due to how my irl friends always got to 80 in like a week then transferred somewhere else. I followed and never paid to transfer, so I've started anew like 10 different times. On the bright side I got to experience all classes and races xD

I really like what MW2 could have been. Unfortunately the AI was modelled on George Bush with Superman's senses, and some pratt thought it would be a good idea to make it locally hosted.

I loved the game - except for the part where I discovered the friendly AI couldn't quite work out how the trigger functioned and the Enemy AI could see a fly farting at 100 paces.

I played WoW until the realease of WotKL... Let's say those 2 expansions made WoW pretty ######ty.

Regarding Cataclysm, a race that always was neutral to both the Horde and the Alliance, will now join the Horde? And the Allience will get a monster-like race? seriously WTF? what will happen to places like the Booty Bay or w/e was its name, that was filled with goblins ?

Supposedly Booty Bay, Ratchet etc. will stay neutral since it's not all the goblins joining Horde, just a few groups of them so the other groups will stay neutral.

Bungie didn't want to charge full price for the game, Microsoft made them since they published it. Halo: Reach will be great imho because they are putting their full effort on it and not intentionally making it more of an expansion, but rather a standalone title. I think it will also be more action based like Gears because of the trailer released at the Spike VGA's (which was shot in the game engine, so that ought to tell you how the game will look :D ). And I'm not just a Halo fanboy here, I'm just defending a genre which I personally love.

Anyway, on to the topic!

I think MW2 was decent, and AC2 did fix a lot of the problems from the first game. The issue is; you just can't totally fix AC or make each one THAT much different, it's just not practical with such a title and genre. I also think ODST shouldn't have been full price, but like I said, you can thank Microsoft Game Studios for that one.

I am really looking forward to Halo: Reach, APB, StarCraft 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 3, Dark Void, MAG, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor, Guild Wars 2, and Singularity. I might have missed a few on my list but that's most of them.

BY THE WAY is it just me who is anticipating black mesa:source? There is little feedback on that operation and I've been hoping that they would release their final product soon. I've held back on playing the original half life because I'm interested in playing their new rendition of it. Sigh... I've been waiting so many years for so many games. Good news is that mass effect 2 came out, which I plan on buying eventually.

And I'm glad to see I'm not the only starcraft fan xD.

edit: in light of recent website updates, it would seem that bm source is coming out in february of this year, and is free/will be on steam.
