Im over half way through, basical i played it none stop from 9am-6pm. So here's the low-down the gameplay style is almost a carbon copy of crackdown. Let me explain crackdown gameplay boils down to an openworld in which mission are complete to contiue the plot like any other game, but unique to crackdown you had power unlocked by XP, and could complete races/tasks non mission based. Proto is the same only with more powers and a hell of a better story and gameworld. This game never make you feel like you are doing the samething over and over by introducing lots of varying charactor as to make the difficult curve hard but do able unlike ninja gaiden. The powers themself gives you the freedom to play as you wish stealth/longrange/medium/close, direct assault, long and tedius setup, you can play your way. At points it does feel like they ripped off something i.e. the hunter looks kind of like the resident evil movie (the zombie that was in stasis in the first film) and the fat guy with swords/blades for arms remindes me of franki millers 300, the persia arms exucutioner.

But the game IS good, not great however not far. Really enjoyable even though is a 3rd person game (not mt favourite way to play) the game plays well and as i said has pace, difficulty that is missing from some games. I would say it does feel like it was made for console (gamepad) which is a shame. It a good way of killing time till the 29th (props for who works this out first).

I don't think dos has played the spiderman games.
Prototype resembles spiderman 3 more than crackdown i think.

I have it for xbox and the controls are fine.
Graphics are fine.
.............
.............

It really is spiderman; free roaming around city, find landmarks, find random events around city to get medals.

cept instead of climbing up walls you run up them and you can't sling webs.

I have play spiderman, but the feel of it just really makes me think crackdown (same engine??), i think it the picking up of stuff like cars and throwing them at people. Have no clue on infamous (as i lack a ps3) but looks good.

I don't really care that it's like crackdown.

If these were the only 2 games in existance, so nothing could've been copied beforehand. Which game would be better (basically ignore any minor unoriginalities).

I got this game 2 days ago, I've played it non-stop and completed it. It was pretty sick.

This game, like you said, resembles Spiderman more so than Crackdown, but yet, in Prototype I always felt myself taking the stealthy approach to nearly every mission. Consuming an enemy soldier, becoming the soldier - then getting in behind lines and disarming stuff and hijacking tanks, STEALTHILY, which is a lot different to nearly every other free roam game like Crackdown, and Spiderman. Where you just jump in and spam one button and destroy everything.

You have different attacking powers - and defensive powers. and can also transform into the people you consume. It's easy to switch between the powers as, you hold "r" and the game slows down for about 3-4 seconds in which time you have enough time to mouse the pointer to the new power you wish to use, without being owned.

I'd highly reccomend this game for anyone who's played Crackdown or Spiderman, or is a fan AT ALL of any free roam games, you'll thoroughly enjoy it.

Also, you can go at missions in very different ways, like earlier when I said I usually chose the stealthy approach, you could just go in guns blazing and try and destroy everything in one go- or, you could hijack a helcopter and go in from the sky and destroy your targets.

Inorder to proceed in the game you must consume 'targets', as you have lost your memory and the special infection inside of you allows you to digest people and get their memories and shiz. Consuming people also gives health - so it's useful to consume a person here or there during a fight.

Even if all of this is amazing, the graphics are a slight let down, but once you're playing you realise you don't even care, the gameplay is just too immense. Set the graphics and shadow detail to high - and then it's not too bad. The game runs smoothly, and is a nice representation of NY - with no loading screens (Except loading cinematics).

My favourite part of this game has to be buying fully upgraded sprint, fully upgraded jump, double boost and Glide.
With all of that you can pretty much fly from building to building, rooftop to rooftop at a good speed, and it's just generally fun.

You can also consume some targets inside large police/sciencitifc bases to increase your assault rifle skill, or armor skill (driving tanks), which adds a whole new dimension to the game.

P.S - You get XP from killing enemies
Slightly more XP for doing missions and consuming targets
A bit more XP for doing side-missions
and quite a bit XP for destroying main Hive's or Police Bases.

All in all, it's a great game and worth the money.

EDIT: I've played Crackdown, Spiderman 1+2+3 and Prototype all the way through, and I have to say I enjoyed Prototype the most due to its diversity.

Why do everyone make games like that? it's BORING.

Everyone may make this kind of game, but it is difficult to make a good one. You dont want to let the player get so powerful he's invincible, you want a good difficult curve (not a fringing straight line). While i agree proto doesn't really bring anything new to the table it shows what can be if you do thing right.

Wolf, you really played it stealth... I did that for five minute then when to brute strength :), my god i jumped in the middle and either attacked everything or used the devistator attack (the vine one).

BTW have you try the bullitdive from a v.tall building, if you get it right you can takeout a tank in one

I've never played inFamous, but, it's definitly worth a play through.
I completed it a few days back - playing it through again on Hard this time.

P.S: I don't play many games through twice.

I have to say, I honestly haven't had this much fun on a sandbox style game in a long time.

I don't care how many times it's been done, this game is just fun to play, plain and simple.
