This game has got me really excited.

I can't wait for it, I remember getting so excited through a day of school (my birthday) and then after school buying AC 1, it was truly immense, this will be even more awesome, the gameplay is absolutely awesome, the double-knife thing is really cool too.

GAME OF THE YEAR 2009 AWARD GOES TO AC 2.

Assassins Creed is good....for the first two, maybe 3 missions. Its just SO formulaic:

  • Go to new city
  • Climb towers
  • Rescue citizens from meanies
  • Listen in to someones convosation
  • Beat up some guy in a back alley
  • Help some other assassin kill some guys
  • Race someone across the city
  • Go back to get a feather
  • Sit through some cut scene before finally killing your target
  • Run away and hide in a pile of hay
  • Rinse
  • Repeat

Lets hope AC2 isn't quite so...erm.... repetitive?

The first game was ok, but it's replayability is almost non-existent because of what Alex said. You could collect all the flags and kill all the templars or something, but who the fck wants to do that. I also was kinda dissapointed you couldn't interact with the populace of the cities aside from killing them or saving them by slaughtering some gaurds, which is surprisingly easy.

In fact, the thing I dislike most about it is that you can just run in all rambo like and destroy armies of enemies with ease with the parry ability that rips them up when they try to attack. No stealth required in a 'assassin' game is very dissapointing.

It probably will be. Not much else an assassin can do other than go to a town, search around a bit. Find out some info and take out the target.

But still, played the first one all the way through.. and will definitly buy this one too... just because I love jumping across buildings and stabbing people. <3

At the E3 conference, the AC team said that what they really wanted to give AC2 was "diversity". I think they understood that the fault of the previous AC game was the gay missions you had to keep doing. (they've also made seekers(who look for you and search for you), so that hiding in straw isn't the answer to all your problems)
Apparently they want as much variety as possible in this one (see E3 conference) so hopefully they will change the system, and keep to their word and make the game diverse and different. The thing is with Assassins Creed is that the concept is truly epic, although they failed on the execution. If they execute this right, it could be GotY.

Yeh but if you got a godlike sword that can kill millions without you having to move an inch, you have the answer to all your problems right there, no straw needed.

Even though it was repetitive I never grew bored, until I started to replay it. In the GI interview they said it will be much much less repetitive and the missions will be more varied and take place in more then one city. I'm really excited for this game.

What really has me excited for this game is the fact that they have expanded your options, so that hopefully fighting wont be so bland. But really, they have learned from the mistakes they made on the first game.

AC2 is much better than the first one, and while can still get boring if you play it often enough, you have to understand that there is only so much you can do in a game like that :P

In all fairness though, AC2 is a great game. And with all the different things you can do now it's a much more fun and compelling experience.
