PS3,
Pros: Good graphics, Blu-ray drive, doesn't cost for live.
Cons: barely any of my friends have it.. lack of games compared to Xbox
Xbox 360,
Pros: Great gameplay, wireless controllers, costs for live.. but with that cost we get a better connection than PS3 users. Many users online, especially from my school.. nearly all my friends have an Xbox.
Cons: Cost of Xbox Live, many of my friends have had disc scratches (i have never had it.. probably because i dont move it, and it's layed down flat)
So, in my opinion the Xbox 360 is better because more of my friends play it, and i use my Xbox for a laugh.. and not for serious gaming. (That's what my pc's for

out of 10-
Graphics: XB-8 PS3-8.5(great, but not that much better)
Gameplay: XB-9 PS3-8
Game Selection: XB- 10 PS3-2(you have heavenly sword, MGS4, Uncharted....once your done with those u might play resistance 2 and then you will go buy a 360)
Online Interface: XB- 9(yes you have to pay, but it is worth it) PS3-5
and do you have a tv that can do 1080p? if not you will not notice a difference in graphics between XB and PS3.
anyone who says PS3 is better is just an arragant sony fan that will not listen to anything thats not sony
i hate microsoft and i hate sony....i own both systems.....i love my 360, ps3 is eh, fun occasionally just for the graphics
dont listen to people that dont own both, because they are biased
edit: o i forgot....the "scratches" that u get from xbox is from the idiots moving the system with the disc inside then turning on the system, which leads to a perfect ring enscribed on the disc....not the xbox, just the people........every system says in the manual " DO NOT MOVE SYSTEM WHILE DISC IS INSERTED"

1. I want to buy an PS3, Because i can buy PS3 and a game and begin just starting off playing without any special costs about online gaming.
2. I want to buy an 360, Because it's much cheaper then a ps3 and so i can pay from the money what i have saved for buying a 360, Because the 360 is way cheaper then a ps3, So i can start off paying my saved money on the live section of the xbox.
So everyone have a own opinion about online gaming.
I've have chosen option number 1 because i just want to buy an game and starting off playing online without special rights to play the game online.

I have my ps3 almost a year now, and it still ######ing lives, not a freakin problem.
''Everyone who votes against your direction is a fanboi'' ?
And in opposite direction, because I don't like the Microsoft's Xbox means that I also don't like Windows Vista for example?

I've had it since it came out, I've dropped it a couple times and it has been on a couple long distance trips. It lives.
I have indeed had 2 discs get ruined, but these discs were halo3 and COD4, only because they take so much out of the xbox to get the 'full gaming experience': made to be worn out so you go out and buy another one. Those disks died, but honestly you can just go out and rent a disk from your local rental shop and replace it, no biggy.
I've enjoyed lots of casual shooting games like GOW2, COD4, Halo3 and all the other games from the original xbox (like the other halo games). It's always a good time with friends.
Given that the PS3 costs so much more, about 100$ more than the xbox360, it doesn't really matter that you have to pay for the online gameplay for quite some time. I can play online w/ my friends, something I wouldn't be able to do with the PS3. I bought the xbox360 instead of the PS3 mainly because I wanted to play with my friends and the PS3 didn't offer that.

and on the topic of Xbox failure,
I've had my xbox for nearly 2 years now.. and i've had Halo 3 online since July last year. I've played Halo 3 and Call of duty 4 excessivly.. and have taken my xbox to different homes and shiz. Never had a scratched disc or any problem with my 360 at all. =]

For all the hardware issues, it delivers the best gaming experience (in my opinion of course).
